Last week HewSaw was thrilled to host a group of 25+ sawmillers and forest industry specialists from seven countries on the 2023 HewSaw Safari in HewSaw’s home country of Finland. The group got a close-up look at 10 sawmills, engaged in industry-related visits, and got a taste of Finnish food and culture. 🇫🇮🌲

Friday was the final day of #hewsawsafari2023 ! The group had a tour visit to HewSaw factory in Mäntyharju, and observed the manufacturing of the original #hewsawgrey machines. Our guests had a chance to ask their questions about the equipment directly from HewSaw managing director Markku Rautio and vice president Tuomas Halttunen.
After the factory tour, we visited Versowood Vierumäki sawmill, where HewSaw SL250 2.2 is installed.
Our tour ended in Helsinki with a traditional Finnish dinner and warm networking 🇫🇮🌲

On Thursday, the HewSaw Safari group visited three Finnish sawmills. 🌲 First stop was Metsä Fibre Vilppula Sawmill, home to a HewSaw SL250 3.4. Next up, Versowood Hankasalmi Sawmill, showcasing their HewSaw SL250 3.3 with LogIn 2R. And to round out the day, Misawa Homes Sawmill’s R200 single pass machine.
The group isn’t just getting to know Finnish Sawmilling – they are also immersed in Finnish culture including some time this week enjoying a relaxing sauna night and savoring delicious local cuisine. Stay tuned for more 🇫🇮 #HewSawSafari2023 #veisto #hewsaw #Finland

On Day 3 of #hewsawsafari2023 we visited UPM sawmill in Seikku, where HewSaw SL250 4.4 was installed in 2002 and is still successfully running. In the afternoon our group observed a harvesting presentation by Ponsse, and visited JPJ Wood Oy with HewSaw SL250 2.2 and newly installed planing equipment. #choosetheoriginal #hewsawgrey #veisto

Day 2 of the 2023 HewSaw Safari to Finland was all about getting face to face with HewSaw’s equipment, including HASA Oy Haapaveden Sawmill’s R200 A.1 and @keiteleforest Oy Sawmill’s SL200 2.2. We also explored the fascinating world of CLT production at the @cltplantoy and visited mechanization supplier, @pinomatic_oy, which produces dry end handling equipment. #hewsaw #hewsawsafari2023
