The best of South Savo 2022 have been awarded
The recipients of the 2022 Best of South award have been selected. The award went to Wanha Osula, Muisti Centre of War and Peace and HewSaw.
The Regional Council of South Savo rewards the builders of a spirit of unity, identity and image, who bring the province to the fore in a positive light. This year, the emphasis was on cooperation and the ability to work together. The award recipients were selected for the 12th time.
The public could submit their proposals for the award recipient on the Regional Council´s website from September 21 to October 7, 2022. There were dozens of proposals for the jury to evaluate.
The best of South Savo in 2022:
HewSaw
HewSaw is a family business in the background, and it has grown from local to international, believing in its own know-how and renewal. Up to 80 percent of the company’s production is exported abroad. The company combines strong wood expertise with today’s saw machine technology and is a significant employer. The company has world-renowned, tested products and has succeeded to renew itself over time. Forests and wood are the strategic priorities of the development of the region of South Savo. HewSaw implements this strategy brilliantly.
Wanha Osula
The specialty store and service point in Wanha Osula Haukivuori brings people together locally and further afield. Wanha Osula creates and strengthens a sense of community and at the same time offers versatile services to the people of Haukivuori. Osula has an original concept and experience in implementing a change of ownership as well. Continuity is present in the operation.
Kira and Sanna Saloviin as entrepreneurs have invested in the activity and the activity is personified in them. Entrepreneurs have done meaningful work for the vitality of Haukivuori.
Muisti Centre of War and Peace
Muisti is a nationally unique science centre that has brought Mikkeli and South Savo international recognition as well. Muisti combines new and old, the tradition of Headquarters city with new technological know-how. Muisti brings up the theme of peace in the current world situation. As a science centre, Muisti combines the latest scientific research, pedagogy and technological methods. Cooperation with other operators is extensive and systematic.
